In April 2012, we co-hosted the “Analytics, Big Data, and The Cloud” Conference with Athabasca University and the UofA’s School of Business. The Conference was comprised of 9 pre-Conference Workshops, 8 Keynotes from the USA and Canada, Israel and India plus 30 panels.
The event drew almost 500 attendees and Web-TV viewers from 32 countries plus 35,000 Tweets and over 100,000 images.
Following on the huge success of last year’s Big Data, Analytics and the Cloud conference, this year promises to be even bigger with a larger audience and increased coverage in both Edmonton and Calgary. The attendees represent a cross section of Analytics users including business leaders, leaders in government, academics, and technology innovators. Attendees are interested in emerging technology and the latest trends as well as social and ethical issues related to deploying this technology. Our sponsors have the opportunity to directly connect with thought leaders and early adopters and to build and deepen their relationship with this important group.
Business and IT leaders today need to find a path through the “Big Data” hype in order to make use of the powerful and revolutionary tools emerging from the analytics industry, that are developing on a worldwide scale. Advances in computer intelligence, hardware, and software have made it easier than ever to analyze vast amounts of data to find real solutions to real problems. Competitive leaders need to be aware of the emerging trends.
There is a vast array of available Analytics related systems, and navigating this space is becoming increasingly complicated. In addition to understanding the tools and techniques, leaders are faced with many challenges to implementing systems including difficulty accessing and preparing data, security, finding applicable analytics techniques, ethical issues, social pressures etc.
The upcoming conference Big Data, Analytics and the Cloud II, will examine important issues faced by Canadian leaders using Analytics solutions. Sponsors will gain direct access to this group and will be able to bring their issues to the front and center of this important dialogue.
